How To Get Around In Bali

If you think travelling around 2232 square miles is an easy job, you thought wrong! Bali is as huge as that and getting around Bali will require you to have a mix of several transportation methods. The most popular cities in Bali that almost everyone travels to include Legian, Ubud, Seminyak, and Kata, and the ways of transportation that this article is just about to describe are all ideal for those explorations. You may select what suits the best for you depending on your conditions.

Tourist shuttles

Don't hesitate to say yes to a tourist shuttle service when you are in Bali. This is a form of public transportation and you have two options in Bali about the service providers. One is Perma and the other one is the Kura-Kura Bus. Both these tourist shuttles cover the main areas in Bali and they are indeed come with all the luxury that you may be looking for.

Bemo

Not so popular among tourists, but this form of public transportation also has been designed especially for tourists. These are mini-buses (or vans) that have the capacity to carry about 12 people at once. The routes they take are fixed and the fares are mostly negotiable.

Buses

If you spend your vacation at a hotel in Kuta Bali the likes of Holiday Inn Resort Baruna Bali and decide to explore some destination located far away, the best form of public transportation you can opt for is buses. Yes, the drivers may wait for hours till the bus is full of passengers before departing, but travelling by bus once in while with the locals is going to be fun and exciting. Make sure you have changed cash (rupiah) with you when you are travelling by bus.

Ferries

So, if your plan is to travel between the islands of Gili and Lombok while you stay in Bali, then you may try a ferry ride for sure. This is the best method to travel in-between islands and do not worry about the time schedules of these, because they do have fixed schedules and they do follow them as well.

Ojeks

Wondering what these 'ojeks' are? Do not worry, you'll be quite used to this term when you visit the island of Bali during your upcoming vacation. They are a special type of motorcycle that is often chosen by travellers who want to enjoy their moments in their own way. Riding an ojek in the city (where it's more congested) can be a little risky, so you better use this option to explore the countryside.

Taxis

Taxis are also a popular form of transportation in Bali. All you need to do is to hail one while standing on the roadside. Blue Bird taxis are the most common service providers in Bali, and they provide a friendly service at affordable rates. Before you start your ride, make sure you ask the driver to switch on the meter, because they then can't charge you more for the distance travelled if this is done. Bali also has the Uber service, so you can use it if you have the app installed.

Hired cars

Hiring a car for your entire Bali journey is what most of the people nowadays do, and this saves a lot of time as well. Hire a car with a driver and although this means getting another cost element added, it will make sure that you are safe throughout your journey. Driving is not so recommended in Bali for tourists, but if you really need to, you will have to understand the road rules there and get used to them as well.
