How to plan the perfect Singapore Trip

Contrary to popular belief, visiting Singapore is entirely worth it, despite the high costs associated with travelling to that country. If planned right, you can add more things to your Singapore itinerary on the same budget. Here are some insights on how you can plan the perfect trip to Singapore.

Find the best times to visit

One of the best things about Singapore is that you never have to take its weather into account when planning your itinerary. Singapore has consistent weather around the year with an average temperature of 27°C, although unexpected downpours and humid climate is to be expected. Being a massive business hub, Singapore seldom has off-peak times for its massive range of hotels. The costs of staying at a particular hotel will be the same if rechecked in a few months if you do not consider big holiday seasons such as Chinese New Year, in which case there is a tendency for the prices to surge.

Find the required budget

As per common knowledge, a trip to Singapore is usually pretty expensive; however, it's heartening to know that there are ways you can save during the trip and accumulate more awesome experiences under the same budget that you may have in mind. One thing that you have to make up your mind if travelling on a budget is to take your alcohol party nights elsewhere in Southeast Asia, as they tend to get quite expensive with high taxes associated with liquor. Even if they came at low prices, you will have to abide by the regulations regarding the use of alcohol in this country. If you're planning to stay at hostels, eat at hawker centres, and use public transport, you can survive in Singapore by being able to spend around 80-100 SGD per day. Hostels can be found for half the price of what you may have to pay at a hotel, but there are best-value hotels in Singapore that may address your budget requirements.

Decide on your travelling methods

Although you may feel like walking around Singapore, the high levels of humidity would make you sweat profusely. Taking the public transit such as buses and the MRT would not only be a break from all the heat, but it would also take you to your destination much faster. Both are incredibly effective ways of travelling that would agree with your budget with facilities such as one-off Singapore Tourist Passes (STP), offering unlimited travel up to three days. You would be able to visit most tourist attractions in the country by travelling via the MRT, and there is absolutely no need to ask assistance from anyone as these stations provide clear instructions even for the first time visitors with their multi-lingual signage. On a side note, make sure that you sign up for travel insurance before leaving your country. It can help you in surprising ways at the most unexpected moments.

Create your itinerary

It would require a minimum of three days for you to visit the major attractions in Singapore. You can start off exploring Singapore by visiting the Botanic Gardens, of which the entrance is completely free, although entering into some parts of the garden will require a small fee. The Botanic Gardens are a UNESCO World Heritage Site and includes trees that are quite ancient, making it a must-visit site in the country. Next, you can head over to Orchard Road, which is a popular shopping neighbourhood in Singapore. Located close to properties such as Destination Singapore Beach Road, it offers so much more than your average shopping experience. In the evening, you can visit Marina Bay to capture that iconic snap with the Marina Bay Sands in the background. Visiting Singapore Flyer and Gardens by the Bay are some other attractions that you can include on your first day. On the second day, you can plan to visit the Chinatown, which is all the rage for its delicious assortment of street food. Plan to take a peek into the unique history of Singapore by visiting its religious places such as Sri Mariamman Temple. The Singapore Zoo and the Night Safari are great options, especially if you have kids, or you're an animal lover. A trip to Singapore isn't complete without visiting its multi-ethnic neighbourhood, Little India. Therefore, make sure you visit it on the third day and be greeted by its mesmerising colours and sights such as Sri Veeramakaliamman Temple. Consider visiting Haji Lane for wonderful shopping opportunities with vibrantly painted walls and Bugis shopping malls for some last-minute shopping.
