Planning the route

Previously, prior to the pandemic, you might have packed your bags, gotten in your vehicle and left for an adventure. However, now more so than ever, you cannot do so. You have to pre-plan the route. Some of the states may have strict restrictions that you must be aware of to navigate properly. Plan the route and see if the states and towns you crossover have any restrictions that will not let you past through. For instance, if you want to travel to Kandy, you have to do so carefully by mapping your road in order to avoid places that might still be under curfew. What to pack?

Apart from the necessary clothes and equipment that you will require for certain activities, there are essentials that you have to pack. These are the times we are living in and these are the items you cannot go without. Apart from a light snack and water bottle, make sure to pack several masks, disposable gloves, disinfecting wipes, and a hand sanitizer that will last you throughout this trip. The reason you have to pack water bottles and light snacks is that you do not want to make an unnecessary stop to buy these items. It is time for you to get extra vigilant about certain elements. Try to avoid using public bathrooms unless it's very necessary and then when using gas stations make sure to use disposable gloves.

Where to eat?

Some states allow restaurants to function as normal, but they do not have dining services. Some other places are offering dining services and take only a limited number. Note down such places along the way and generally check online the hygienic steps they have taken to combat the risks posed by the pandemic. You can also easily stopover at the drive-throughs and eat in your vehicle for hygienic purposes.

How about gas stations?

When trying to fill your gas tank or even charge the electric battery of your vehicle, you will have to handle the gas pump or the EV public charger. This can be quite gross and pose a risk. The health authorities of many countries recommend the use of disposable gloves when undertaking such activities. It is better to use gloves than wipe it with disinfecting wipes. After use, discard your gloves in the closest trashcan.

And Hotels?

Most hotels are not reopening just yet and if you want to make stopovers along your way, check out some of the major hotel chains that are still operating. Even if you make a reservation make sure to reconfirm. Hotels have become very vigilant with the cleaning protocol as well.
